MUSEUM:
The Spring Lake Historical Society Museum features two galleries: The Permanent Exhibit Gallery and The Changing Exhibit Gallery.
The Permanent Exhibit Gallery displays the history of Spring Lake, starting with the Native Americans who “vacationed” on the seashore and continuing on through different eras up to the present. Exhibits include LENAPE HOKING; EARLY SETTLERS; TOWN; VICTORIAN ERA; 1920’S – 1940’S; WWII; 1945 – 1960; 1960 – PRESENT. |

The Changing Exhibit Gallery displays the history of several different topics about Spring Lake. This Gallery's displays change periodically to highlight various other subjects of interest. The Changing Exhibit Gallery currently features the following topics: SPRING LAKE BOROUGH ESTABLISHED IN 1892; MAYORS – ARCHITECTS OF SPRING LAKE; and SPRING LAKE MEMORIAL COMMUNITY HOUSE.
The Museum is staffed by volunteer docents. Admission is free and large groups are welcome. Donations are tax deductible and always welcome. |

Spring Lake Historical Society Research Services:
The Society compiles and maintains many files, photos and artifacts that document the history of Spring Lake and its connection to surrounding areas.
If you would like to request research about a particular topic, please contact the Society with details about your request by phoning 732 449-0772, Emailing or writing to the Society at P.O. Box 703, Spring Lake, NJ 07762. The Society office manager and/or historian will follow up on your request. When requesting research, please allow appropriate time for the research to be conducted.
Members of the Society are not charged for research unless it involves extensive study. Non-members are charged an appropriate fee for the work requested. The Society will estimate in advance the amount of any fee to be charged.
Independent research of the Society's files requires permission of the Society Historian, and supervision by the office manager or a qualified volunteer. It may entail a fee for copying materials. | |

Historic Sites Plaque Program
Spring Lake homeowners with houses at least 50 years of age may participate in the Historic Plaque Program. The Spring Lake Historical Society researches Plaque requests based on Borough and County historic maps, as well as other relevant information.
Barbara Curran and Stephanie McMurray of the Spring Lake Historical Society chair the program.
Plaques are available in two sizes: 9” x 14” and 11” x 15”. The Spring Lake Historical Society requests a donation of $250 for a Plaque.

In addition to managing the Museum, the Society conducts historical research for Members; makes Museum archives available to researchers, presents Historic Site Plaques, organizes an annual tour of Spring Lake Houses of historical interest, organizes theatre trips, and awards scholarships to local students.
